An insight to our coffee philosophy

As Brothers, we began our coffee journey on Tanna Island in Vanuatu, but have certainly broadened our scope of countries and origins with the expansion of the business. Various countries, including those from Central and South America, Africa, South Pacific and Asia, have all been producing some extraordinary varietals that stretch the palate of coffee flavours. By broadening the variety of coffee origins, we are able to discover more flavours, leading to new ways to accentuate what these plants are producing.

The exploration of coffee and fair trade coffee has the ability to introduce us to so many new things. Not only does it support global trade and fair trade, but it resultantly builds global relationships. When we buy green beans, we are also buying the story that the beans have grown up with: what the soil conditions were, what the weather does and how high the altitude is, how the farmer treats the plants and how the farmer lives when caring for the plants, how the origin (or even the country as a whole) processes the beans, how clean or how sparse the water is. When we buy green beans, we are learning all these things about another culture, another family, and another country’s agricultural, climatic and cultural differences. It seems incredible that all this can come from your simple morning coffee!

We aim to find and supply high quality specialty coffee. For us, this quality all begins in the seed at origin – the green bean. Nature has worked hard to do what it does best – produce life and fruit and seeds bursting with flavour – and it would be disrespectful to destroy all the glory that is presented in that green bean. Our job as human beings in the specialty coffee industry is to manipulate these green beans into a product we consume with as little interference as possible, in an attempt to celebrate the work nature has presented to us. The flavours and experiences presented in the resulting cup is something worth celebrating and sharing with the world, which is something that the specialty coffee industry does so well. The power of sharing and collaboration has led to the discovery of some magical findings all over the planet and all we want to do is share it further.

Coffee is clearly our passion, but so are people, and the specialty coffee industry is an incredible way to mesh the two together. We can share high quality beans grown and treated with some major TLC to create incredibly sensual experiences often in a social manner. It’s something so simple – a coffee – but with this much power driving it, what’s not to love about this ever growing industry?!

These are the foundations of Coffee Brothers, and what drives us to produce high quality service and product. With roots on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Coffee Brothers was founded by two friends, Tony and Mark, who saw the need for the exploration of specialty coffee with a local focus and sense of pride. The brand has since become a must see coffee shop location on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

COMMUNITY

First and foremost, Coffee Brothers values communities. We are a family run business born and bred right here on the beaches. We know locals, and always relish an opportunity to help out. From the staff to the customers, we are family. But this sense of community is not just restricted to the café on the beaches, but extends throughout the entire process of coffee production.

Our beans were first sourced from Tanna Island in Vanuatu with a direct trade relationship between us and the farmers.

No middle man, no fuss, just a common passion for great quality coffee. The Tanna Island coffee and community will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we strive to uphold and support the people of Tanna – be that through disaster relief or business backing. Since then, we have expanded our range of produce to include premium, specialty grade coffee from all around the world.

Our staff are passionate about coffee and are always willing to share knowledge and try new things. From competitions to coffee tasting events, we are all about exploring and offering everything we can regarding coffee.

Ultimately, we wish to give the best possible coffee experience. For this, we ensure that quality is paramount in every area of production, from the organic coffee beans and selection process, to the roasting, to the brewing, all the way to the cup we present to you. Quality is blended into every aspect of our coffee, so that you are able to enjoy whatever it is we have to offer.
