The Cafe

Coffee Brothers HQ and café are strategically plonked in the heart of Mona Vale. Located within walking distance to the beach and in the middle of an industrial strip, we radiate the Northern Beaches vibe. Our aim at the Coffee Brothers café is to bring the locals the best coffee possible in a friendly and social environment. We love being social so don’t be surprised if we suddenly sit down with you for a chat. Since opening, the Coffee Brothers cafe has become to go-to one stop coffee chop on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, and with it being so close to the beach, we can attract more than just our friendly locals.

Our staff are constantly in training to give you the most up to date knowledge about all things coffee. We love learning and we love experimenting with flavours and extractions – so forgive us if we suddenly turn around and serve you something strange, or randomly ask you to “try this!”

We offer 4 varieties of coffee through the espresso machine at all times: our house seasonal blend, our specialty volcanic bloom blend, the single origin of the week and single origin decaf. If you have no idea what each of these mean or what you would like, our staff will figure it out for you. They’re pretty good like that!

Off the espresso machine, we offer Cold Drip in summer on whatever filter features that week, and Batch Brew in winter. Pour Overs are available all year round. We love our filter coffees and encourage you to talk to us about it!

The breakfast menu has a variety of local favourites to offer and with our cuper cool chefs under the pump, the Coffee Brothers HQ café aims to produce a seasonal menu that features the best of the seasonal produce alongside our local's favourites. We mix it up from the oh so popular African Eggs to the... oh what will be next?? And our B&E rolls ... how can you decide between the Tony's version or the Brother's version? Our aim in the kitchen is to keep providing our locals with the best variety we can offer and the chefs are working hard to come up with everything you want and more, both sweet and savoury.

We are a local business who love the local community and love other local businesses. The regulars who come and visit more often than the staff always bring that sense of community with them, and it fills the staff with pride to see them return as often as they do.

Want to meet our staff (or have you forgotten our names… again?!) Check us out below!

Our Staff

Manager

  • Juan Sebastian blah blah blah Botero aka Juan (pronounced H-wan)

Juan is a cafe front manager at HQ as well as being a swifty barista. He was born ‘n’ raised in Colombia on a coffee farm – so he knows his stuff, even if he doesn’t act like it! We just ask that you exercise patience with Juan, as 9 times out of 10 he will misspell or mispronounce your name. It's not his fault - he's Colombian!

Drink of choice: macchiato with camel milk (or a simple ¾ long black if the first is unavailable)

Baristas

  • Trent Nielsen Barista

A barista from somewhere west of everywhere. Trent is our mini all-rounder power machine at HQ. He is also an outright nerd! Just don't dis Star Wars within ear shot of Trent, he won't like you for it!

    Drink of choice: large latte

  • Chris Kang Barista

Chris is a very busy little bumblebee. His time is often split between being a cool barista down at HQ, volunteering at his local fire station, and throwing big fancy words all around the place in an attempt to sound smart. He is also an epic pianist.

    Drink of choice: piccolo

  • Bec Wickens Barista

This is Bec. She is a bike riding, yoga doing, snowboard instructing kinda-gal! Oh, and she's a barista on the side. And we scored her!

Drink of choice: decaf camel milk macchiato with a pump of caramel syrup

  • Eliza Curby Barista/Socialite

Eliza is our active little socialite who somehow seems to know everybody! She has played a variety of roles at HQ: barista, manager, greeter, painter, cleaner. She is a gorgeous little girl with 3 beautiful little babies all born in the same year! (Yes - you read that correctly! 3 in 1!)

Drink of choice: soy cap (with honey!)

  • Nathan Tower Barista

Nathan is a barista at HQ and is constantly working to develop his skills on the machine. He is a big time bacon lover as he claims it helped him lose weight so many years ago!! ... ok Nathan...

    Drink of choice: long black

  • Fern McNulty Barista

Fern has returned! We like hearing her talk with somewhere between an Aussie and British accent. It adds a little spice to our lives. So does her favourite trivia facts, such as how a group of flamingoes is flamboyance.

    Drink of choice: double espresso

Professional Floor Shufflers

  • Claudia Krek Floor shuffler

She is a standard Northern Beaches teenage girl: you will often find her getting in the way. It’s not her fault. It just happens. Claudia is our chirpy little shuffler whenever she is not away on holidays.

Drink of choice: she keeps changing her mind!!

  • Emma Gallo Floor shuffler

Emma is one of our youngest little guns down at HQ on the weekends. Fun facts: she's always energetic, she plays the trumpet, and she was born on the same day as her twin! What are the odds of that?!

    Drink of choice: large cap

  • Rachel Terry Floor Shuffler

Meet Rachel. Rachel is lovely. Rachel is a super friendly, on the ball, funky kinda gal. She's British, she plays the cello, and we've stolen her! Yay us!

    Drink of choice: mocha

Chef

  • Chrissy Smith Chef

Chrissy is the chef that has been with us the longest - since we opened back in 2012. She has devoted a lot of time to give you the menu we have today. She is a beautiful lady who knows what you like.

    Drink of choice: flat white

  • Johnny Wu Chef

Johnny is our chef from China and has been with us the second longest after Chrissy. He likes to be a chatterbox in the kitchen and tells everybody about the latest fish he caught.

Drink of choice: large flate white - 2 on Saturdays!

  • Cindy Sheerlock Chef

Meet our latest kitchen addition! Cindy is used to working in schools, so she is way too organised and methodical for our kitchen, but she seems to manage alright with that. She also worked in television for 20 years! Lucky she decided to switch!

    Drink of choice: large mocha

  • Ruth West Chef

Ruth is our funny little cook from Switzerland. She quite enjoys her dog, powdering her nose and watching The Bachelor Australia series. She is certainly a lovable part of the team, even if she doesn't ever stop talking.

    Drink of choice: latte
